Greater Love
Greater Love is a nonprofit Christian Charity social services organization in North-East Indiana, USA.
Our priority in operations centers on rebuilding and reforming the total and whole human—indiscriminately, by providing food, clothing, and relevant supportive programs such as housing/shelter, spiritual, moral, psychological, and other needs necessary.
We are glad and fulfilled to help and serve anyone who comes to us for assistance, and we do NOT judge them. In practically demonstrating the Greater Love of Christ Jesus, we believe everyone deserves life, dignity, hope, and belonging in a community. These are essential prerequisites to experiencing God in Spirit and Truth.
WHY WE EXIST
FACTS:
1. Every 11 seconds around the world, a child dies from hunger (WFP). The current estimated figure is nearly 5.7 million each year!
2. The United Nations affirms that the number of people affected by hunger globally rose to as many as 828 million in 2021, representing an increase of about 46 million since 2020, and 150 million since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. This is by a UN report that provides fresh evidence that the world is moving further away from its goal of ending hunger, food insecurity, and malnutrition in all its forms by 2030.
3. Nearly one in every ten people around the world go to bed hungry each night because of several seemingly uncontrollable reasons. This puts the total figure of people in the world who face severe food insecurity as of 2023 to about 2.4 billion, and almost 3.3 billion who presently cannot have a healthy diet!
4. Quite interestingly and rather pathetically, nearly 13 million American children face hunger presently.
5. According to the US Department of Urban Planning and Development, more than half a million people in the United States are homeless. Homelessness shot up in urban US by more than 12% in 2023, reaching over 650,000 people! The Federal Government admits that the US is facing a growing rate of poverty and food insecurity, with more than 12% of the total national population living below the poverty line, and nearly 13% facing hunger and food insecurity!
Very proactive approaches are very necessary and highly stringent.
Ironically, heads of the five UN agencies wrote that “the issue at stake is not whether adversities will continue to occur or not, but how we must take bolder action to build resilience against future shocks.” We are therefore left with a choice to make: to either close our eyes, ears and hearts to these painful realities; the plights and sufferings of these helpless people, and pretend that nothing really serious is happening, or to admit the realities and assume a sense of responsibility and take proactive steps toward bringing lights of hope and relief.
The existence of Greater Love as a Christian Charity—Non-profit organization, is to mobilize all available resources, and create opportunities to meet the growing demands of basic needs of humanity in our societies—especially for the poor, the needy, the weak, the helpless, the hopeless and the vulnerable. In doing so, we believe we will equally fulfill a great desire of the Heart of God, in as much as we agree with the Lord and Master Jesus Christ. He says (Matthew 25:35—45):
“I was hungry, and you gave Me food; I was thirsty, and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger, and you took Me in; I was naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.' “Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothed You? Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?' And the King will answer and say to them, 'Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.'
Our Mission
To practically demonstrate the Perfect Love of God to the helpless, weak, and vulnerable in society and our communities by helping them experience total reformation and recovery through care giving and the provisions of life's basic needs and necessities.
Our Vision
A center of love, care and hope for the helpless, hopeless and the most vulnerable in our societies.
“I was hungry, and you gave Me food; I was thirsty, and you gave Me drink;
I was naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me;
I was a stranger, and you took Me in; I was in prison, and you came to Me....'
“Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothed You? Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?' And the King will answer and say to them, 'Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.'
